Rancho Lorilar is a well established Canadian owned ranch in the Dominican Republic offering half day, full day and private riding for riders of all experience. It does not matter whether you have never ridden a horse, if you are an experienced rider or somewhere in between - we will have a horse that will be suitable for you.
Your safety is our primary concern, safety helmets are provided as standard, you will recieve a safety briefing and riding instructions before you commence your riding adventure.

Joyce - the Horse Lady, sometimes known as Ruby Wax or Joan Rivers will usually be there to greet you and provide you with an entertaining safety briefing and introductory lesson that cannot be missed! The briefing is as informative as it is entertaining and by the end of it you can be confident that you are in safe hands with the necessary knowledge to control your horse.
Your guides, Alex, Angel, Willy, Freddy, Kiko, Javier, Robertico and Pedro will accompany you along the trails (if you are not careful they may even splash you while crossing the streams). They are fun, informative and they make sure that everyone's having a good time. Sandra our stable manager, the toughest cowgirl around, will choose the perfect horse for you. Our long-time staff are trained in first aid and speak English, French and German.

Weather
Rancho Lorilar was named by a Canadian couple, Lori and Larry in 1993. The ranch is located at the base of Mt. Isabel de Torres, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. It was started with just a dozen horses and has now grown to an eighty horse stable. Lorilar horses are well cared for and well trained. The horses are famous for their comfortable gait which makes them so easy for any level of rider. The horses are cross breed of Arab-Pasofino and this accounts for their smooth and comfortable gait.
